Hip Macrame Jewelry
Taught by Guest Teacher Wendy Stevens

Colorful, exciting and economic, macrame jewelry is the perfect choice for summer wear. Using nylon macrame cord, which is rich in color and kind to your skin, make two bracelets or a bracelet and a necklace in this half day class. Learn how to measure to custom fit, make the flat double knot sinnet and the twisted single knot sinnet. Learn to make a "button" closure and work with various colors and beautiful beads! This is a fun class and before you know it, you will have an entire wardrobe and gifts to spare! Beginners welcome.

Mini-Class

The Princess Bling Ring Class
Guest Teacher Doug Goldberg

Learn to create a beautiful woven beaded ring with a 8mm center bead, bicone crystals, myuki tube seed beads and small sterling 2 mm beads.  We will use soft flex wire to weave an intricate fabo princess ring...students must be able to work with small beads...and have there own magnification to help them see (Optivisors and magnifying glasses available for sale at class.)

Preregistration required

Slave Bracelet

A design born from the "Mental Hang Up" Contest here at Caldron.  Become a true "slave" to your beads.  Make this simple cuff bracelet with a small chain attached in the middle, leading to a simple beaded ring!  We will be using the Wire Working tool, bracelet and ring mandrels to make this very unique piece of jewelry for yourself or for a gift!  This is not a beginner class.  

Must have taken Wire Wrap I.

Spiral Bead

Create a Fantastic Bead from Seed Beads of many different colors and shapes.  Although this bead takes about 8 hours to make, Bonnie will get you started on the design which you can finish at home.  She will have a variety of kits made up for you to choose from.  Must know peyote stitch.

Copper Clay Linked Cuff Bracelet
           Taught by Guest Teacher Barbara Hance

wpe4.jpg (39724 bytes) This is a great project for the beginner as well as the advanced metal clay student. In this class you will learn how to texture and form bracelet links. Make uniform copper balls into a decorative component for the links. Frame the component and attach the embellishment to the bracelet links. A toggle clasp will complete your bracelet. Your bracelet components will be left at the store for overnight firing.

Beginning Soldering

Learn the basics of jewelry soldering, including safety, types of torches and fuels, when to use easy, medium or hard solder, use of pickle, use of tumbler for polishing, filing correctly, and how to solder so that the joint is invisible.  Students will shape and cut rings, file and solder them, and forge and texture them to create a bracelet of their choice.  We will especially focus on the use of the torch so that each student will feel competent to complete projects on their own at home.  We will add a hand made clasp, and polish the finished piece in the tumbler.  This class is a prerequisite for advanced soldering classes. 

The beginning class on July 17 is currently full. However the intermediate class on August 8 is not. We are now accepting registrations for July 24.  Students will be able to take the August 8 intermediate class as well.

Taught by
Murf Moorefield

Learn to create hand made forged Sterling Silver center pieces and accents to add texture and interest to your beaded projects so they  will stand out from the crowd.  You will design, forge  and  punch holes in the silver pieces then string them with beads for a necklace and matching earrings.  A handmade toggle clasp will add a finishing touch to the ensemble. This class includes all supplies—a wide assortment of beads will be available to choose from.

The Many Uses of the Flex Shaft Tool
Taught by Douglas Goldberg

An introduction to the multiple uses of this essential jeweler’s tool, which is used as a polishing instrument, carving tool, drill etc. Included in the class will be instruction on which accessories to use for each application. Students will be taught how to drill through a stone, scribe, texture and carve. Students should bring their own flex shaft and accessories, we will provide some mandrels and bits for those applications where students do not have the proper accessory. SPECIAL OFFER: $30 off the class fee if the student purchases a flex shaft from Caldron Crafts when signing up for class.

Introduction to Beading
Taught by Guest Teacher Wendy Stevens

Learn to make earrings, bracelets and necklaces using Soft Flex, Memory Wire, Eyepins, Headpins, Chain and a variety of Findings.  This class will include an introduction to basic tools and beading techniques.

Jewelry Fusing and Soldering Intermediate Level

This class will cover the differences between Fusing and Soldering and will bring students to another level in their torch work. Two projects will be completed in Sterling Silver—a Fused Pendant and a Soldered Ring. Patina will also be introduced and students who choose to Patina their pieces will do so. Must have completed Beginning Soldering or have permission of instructor, provide work samples and pass a written test on basics and safety.
