GRAND HAG DAY!

Feb 2 is International Grand Hag Day! Celebrating the value and beauty of older women. This year we are celebrating here at Caldron Crafts on Sunday Jan 31 from 11 AM to 5 PM. This is also Asia’s 40th Birthday, so it’s a DOUBLE CELEBRATION!

This year we are having a Tarts and Vicars theme. This is an English tradition party where you come dressed as a Tart (that’s a HO in America) or your favorite clergy (this does not have to be a Christian clergy). Or, you can come dressed as a Goddess, a Hag or other Wise Person.

We will be having a contest for the best costume! If you don’t want to come as a Tart, bring some tarts…or other interesting foods to share.

Everyone will be sharing Olde Wives Tales (or Olde Husband’s Tails….ops Tales). Tales of the Goddess will also be shared—if you do not have one, Murf has brought in some Goddess Books. We will also be drawing Goddess Cards to guide your year. We will have a Caldron on hand for you to write down things you wish to discard in the New Year (anything from attitudes to weight to debt) –you will burn the paper to send your intentions out into the universe.

You can wear a costume or not—whatever makes you happy! Please bring yourself, your friends and any other ideas you have for a fabulous celebration.

If you cannot celebrate with us, please celebrate wherever you are.
We mean to make GRAND HAG DAY an international celebration.

She’s a  Grand Old Hag

(to the tune of Its A Grand Old Flag)

By Barbara Warnock 2008 (in celebration of grand Hag Day Feb 2)

She’s a Grand Old Hag

She’s a high minded hag

And the truth she will always say

She’s brave and true

And no matter what they do

She stands strong and never gives way

With her head held high

She looks them in the eye

And tells it like it is, loud and clear

With her head unbowed

She shouts out loud

I’m a Grand Old Hag!
