Wire Wrapping and Forging/Hammering

Using an Ammonite as my base, I wire wrapped the piece using 4 wires of 22 gauge square wire.  I learned wire wrapping from Murf Moorefi8eld.  Leaving the 8 ends free I created "tentacles" representing the real animal that once lived in this fossil.  Of course this animal ate other animals, so I've included them indicating the vibrant life this small creature once had.

I created the chain using 24 gauge square wire accented with 4mm Swarovski crystals, sterling silver finish and balls.  The clasp is also hand made using forging.  Classes which provided these skills included several wire wrapping classes, Chains Chains Chains, and Findings Solutions.

My business name is Jahari's Spiritual Jewelry, and this piece is dedicated to the Deity Vishnu.  It represents the sacredness of life and the fragile nature of our planet.  Salagrama  is a village situated on the river Gandaki, regarded as sacred by the Vaishnavas. The Black Fossil Ammonite is a sacred stone found near this village and is said to be pervaded by the presence of Vishnu.
